In an effort to protect biodiversity and ensure responsible development in the Wilderness areas, a new initiative called ‘SaveWild’ has been launched. The program, which is being spearheaded by a group of conservation experts and environmental organizations, aims to provide oversight and guidance for projects and activities that take place in Wilderness area. This initiative will provide an additional platform for those environmental organisations active in Wilderness and George to spread on this website their messages of concern about environmentally problematic practices and development plans. The launch of SaveWild comes at a crucial time, as the Wilderness areas are facing increasing pressure from human development. These activities can have severe consequences for biodiversity, including the loss of species and habitats, as well as negative impacts on local communities that depend on these areas for their livelihoods through tourism. “SaveWild is an important step forward in protecting the remaining Wilderness areas and ensuring that they remain intact for future generations,” said Michael von der Heyde, the initiator of the initiative. “We believe that responsible development can and should coexist with conservation, and our goal is to help make that a reality.”
